As required with any building structure, constructing a shed or garage may also require a permit. A shed permit may be required for the construction of a shed/garage (Class 10a building) if any one of the following applies:

  • More than 2.4m in height, or
  • Larger than 10m2 in area, or
  • Closer than 1m to a boundary, or
  • Attached to another building or structure

Secure Your Required Shed Permit For Your Shed/Garage Construction

There are specific standards of safety that must be met when any building is constructed. Indifferent to the construction of any other building in Victoria, the construction of a shed or garage will often also require a building permit.

Please contact us to find out if a shed permit is required, as Building Legislation may vary over time.

We Offer a Building Permit for Every Type of Shed and Garage

A Building Permit is also required to change the use of an existing building from a Shed/Garage (Class 10a) to a Habitable Building (Class 1a).

A Shed/Garage used temporarily as a dwelling is not exempt from the requirement to obtain a Building Permit for its construction.
